The BMW PGA Championships - the flagship tournament of the European Tour – attracts some of the greatest players of the modern game and has become a sporting highlight of the British summer. Now moved to September (from late May) to avoid clashing with the US PGA Championship, the tournament remains the highlight of the European golf calendar.
Last year Francesco Molinari took the title, recording rounds of 70-67- 66 and a final round of 68 – beating Rory McIlroy by two shots. Molinari then went on to win the Open Championships at Carnoustie before joining Europe’s winning Ryder Cup team.
The BMW PGA Championships are held at Wentworth Golf Club – an iconic venue with over 90 years’ experience of hosting some of the world’s greatest golf tournaments – on the immaculate West Course, and within easy reach of London. Wentworth, often considered to be one of the finest sporting venues in the world provides a magnificent backdrop to the world-class golf on display.
